In close collaboration with skipper Fabrice Amedeo, this project aims to reveal the biological dimension of ocean observation through the collection of environmental DNA (eDNA) during offshore races.<\/p>

Building on data collected during the Vend\u00e9e Globe 2024, the project will analyse major patterns of marine biodiversity, develop an interactive dashboard for the general public, and test a new generation of automated eDNA samplers. This work will pave the way for their deployment on multiple boats during the Vend\u00e9e Globe 2028.<\/p>

The Brown Algae and Periwinkles (ABB) project is part of the national participatory science programme BioLit, led since 2010 by Plan\u00e8te Mer in partnership with the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN). It aims to document changes in rocky intertidal communities (brown macroalgae and associated gastropods) along the Atlantic, English Channel and North Sea coastlines.<\/p>
